Stork is the name for a bird of the family Ciconiidae. Body large, long-legged, long-necked birds but shorter than egrets, and has a large beak, strong and thick.

 Stork can be found in warm temperate regions. Habitat in drier areas than birds egrets and Ibis. Food in the form of frogs, fish, insects, worms, small birds and small mammals of wetlands and beaches.

NIAS BIRD BEO



Nias hill myna is one subspecies (subspecies) are only parrot (endemic) in the island of Nias, North Sumatra. Nias hill myna having the largest size than other parrots subspecies of the most popular and much in demand by fans because of their versatility in a parrot imitating a variety of sounds, including human speech. Unfortunately, endemic parrots Nias, North Sumatra increasingly scarce.

Beo Nias defined as identity fauna of North Sumatra province. Bird population is more widely available in cages than in the wild when this rare endemic birds, including species that are protected under the Wild Animals Protection Regulations 1931, the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No. 421 / Kpts / Um / 8/1970, Law No. 5 of 1990, and the government regulation No. 7 of 1999.

Subspecies parrots that have a Latin name Gracula religiosa robusta is often referred to as Ciong or Tiong. In English, this endemic bird commonly called Common Hill Myna.

Characteristics and Behavior Beo Nias. Nias hill myna (Gracula religiosa robusta) including a medium-sized bird with a body length of about 40 cm. Nias parrots size is bigger than the other types of parrots.

Habitat and Distribution. Parrot Nias (Gracula religiosa robusta) is a species endemic to North Sumatra that can only be found on the island of Nias and surrounding areas such as Pig Island, Island Tuangku, Simo Island and Island Bangkaru.

Parrot nias like forest near the village or place open to the low-lying areas up to an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. as habitat.

Population and Conservation. Endemic bird populations into the fauna of North Sumatra's identity was unknown until now with certainty. In Indonesia, parrots nias become one of the protected animals even though the Dutch colonial government. Various laws and regulations that include parrots Nias in the list of protected animals from extinction, among others, Wild Animals Protection Regulations 1931, the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No. 421 / Kpts / Um / 8/1970, Law No. 5 of 1990, and the government regulation No. 7 of 1999.
